OIL FOR KNIVES AND TOOLS

Oil for knives, multi-tools, or other tools with moving parts. For everything to function optimally, these parts need to be lubricated with a suitable oil. The oils we sell are viscous and food-grade – they stay where they are meant to lubricate and have no smell or taste. In addition to lubricating moving parts, the oil also has a protective effect against oxidation, rust, and drying out of wooden handles.

Knife oil - won't sewing machine oil work just as well?

Sewing machine oil is indeed a good oil, but it is very messy and will run right through your knife or tool. The right oil for the right purpose is what applies. Otherwise, it risks creating a mess where dirt accumulates – with the opposite effect of what is desired.

When should I NOT use oil on my knife?

If you have a knife with ball bearings, not just any oil will work. A thick oil designed for multi-tools will instead slow down the ball bearing. Ball bearings use a completely different oil – very thin and specially made for ball bearings. These usually come in pressurized spray cans and can be bought at a well-stocked hardware store.
