Keeping your tools, knives, and pliers in good working order is important; periodically, they may need a little oil to keep everything functioning as optimally as when it was new.
This is the same oil used when you receive your new knife or multi-tool from the Victorinox factory.
The oil is specially formulated to lubricate and protect all moving parts of your tool.

Victorinox Multi-Tool Oil - colorless and food-safe

Victorinox multi-tool oil is colorless and food-safe, meeting NSF H1 standards. This means it is harmless to use with knives and cutting boards that come into contact with food.

The oil is quite viscous, which means it adheres more easily to the points where it is applied instead of simply running straight through like sewing machine oil. The bottle is equipped with a narrow nozzle, making it easier to lubricate precisely where needed. The oil is very concentrated, and 10ml is enough for many rounds of lubrication when not over-dosed.

Smart tip

A smart tip is to use a blower bulb similar to those used to clean a camera lens. Not much Victorinox Multi-Tool Oil is needed, but it's important that it lands where it should be and doesn't just flood the knife. The blower bulb allows you to blow oil into areas where it might otherwise be difficult to get it in and/or spread it. Wipe off any excess oil to prevent unnecessary dirt from accumulating.
