The Gerber Shard is one of our absolute EDC favorites here at Slims.se and a tool that has been on our own keychains for countless years! Perfect to have on any keyring, in the car, in your bag, toiletry kit – and a very grateful item to give as a gift to those not yet EDC-converted!

What is a pry bar?

A pry bar is, in short, a small crowbar designed to handle all those small tasks that would otherwise destroy the tip of your beloved knife. Because if there's one thing you should NOT use your knife for, it's prying, bending, and cracking things open. These are the tasks for which you pull out your Shard – that's what it's made for!

The Shard is made of stainless steel with a thin layer of titanium nitride to prevent corrosion. A small and very easy-to-carry pocket tool with great potential in a compact format at a small price.

Between the pry bar's two "tines", the surface is beveled – this allows you to easily cut tape, providing a "knifeless" box opener.

Tips for optimal carrying on your keychain

Place a smaller key as a spacer on top of the tool. This prevents the pry bar from lifting a normal-length key, so it more or less just disappears flat among your keys.
