The Squid has been around for many years now, and no one is sad that they have continued to build on a winning concept!

CRKT Squid Compact - handle, materials, and size

As the name suggests, this is a slightly smaller version, just as useful as the original - but a little lighter in your pocket. Partly, the size contributes to the weight reduction, but so does the choice to use G10 handles instead of metal. G10 is a composite material of fiberglass-reinforced material that is very popular in the knife industry. The handle has a lightly textured surface for optimal grip when working with the knife. The back is made of stainless steel.

The blade of the CRKT Squid Compact is made of D2 with a black finish, and the Squid can now be deployed in two different ways! As before, you can use the thumb stud, but you can also flip it as it now also has a flipper. This also adds an extra dimension of safety as it becomes something of a micro-guard that reduces the risk of your index finger slipping forward even further. Ball bearings make both deployment and folding really smooth, which, combined with an assisting spring, makes it incredibly fast!

On the spine of the knife, there is a generously sized jimping that provides better control over its use. When deployed, the blade is locked with a reliable frame lock. At the end of the Squid Compact, there is a stainless steel lanyard hole where you can attach a lanyard or tether. On the back, there is a removable deep-carry clip made of stainless steel (tip-up carry).
