STROPS

The English word for strigel is "strop," and the act of using a strop, called "strigla" in Swedish, was sometimes referred to as "stroppa" in older Swedish.
A strop is something EVERYONE who owns a knife should have.
The strop is a gentle tool that provides that final perfect sharpness after sharpening and makes the edge truly keen.
It is also a very good tool for maintaining the sharpness of the edge when a full knife sharpening isn't needed.
Often, you can strop away so-called "micro-dents" and also the "burr/edge folding" that occurs when cutting with your knife.
It works for all types of cutting tools, not least a straight razor, kitchen knife, or your EDC knife.

Using it is simple: you simply stroke the edge in a sweeping motion against the stretched leather until you achieve the desired result. The only thing to remember is that the spine of the knife should point in the direction you are moving the knife; otherwise, you will cut your strop instead.
Some people prefer to use some form of polishing compound on the strop for an even more effective finishing touch. What you should keep in mind if you use abrasive compounds is that they embed themselves in the leather.
So, if you like to use different abrasive compounds, you should have a few different strops and use the same strop for each respective compound.
