It is important to maintain your knives and tools if they are to remain functional and beautiful throughout their lifespan. Some materials are sensitive to moisture and others to fats and acids. Making it a habit to wipe off the knife blade after use is something you should do to avoid rust, discoloration, and fingerprints that can etch into the surface. The same applies to knife handles made of metal, copper, and brass, materials where fingerprints can etch if not wiped away. The same goes for pens; it's not a bad idea to keep them clean with a quick wipe.

Washing instructions for the microfiber cloth

When it's time to clean the Böker Solingen Microfiber Cloth, I recommend handwashing it in lukewarm water with a few drops of dish soap. This will remove grease and restore its absorbency. Be sure to rinse it many times until all the dish soap is gone. Wring it out and hang it to dry on a dish rack. Fabric softener should never be used on microfiber cloths – it destroys their properties and creates a film that you don't want when polishing with it.
