The History Behind Nalgene

The company began as early as 1949 when chemist Emanuel Goldberg started experimenting with plastic products for use in healthcare. In the 1960s, they began experimenting with taking what was then laboratory equipment out into nature, as they wanted lightweight, leak-proof bottles.

During the 1970s, the use of Nalgene bottles in camping and outdoor life really took off. A completely new environmental awareness began to form, and people wanted outdoor life to be a much cleaner lifestyle.
